The Adventure Workshop

For 12-14 year olds

So many educators since before Socrates have been left in awe after spending time with this age and their brains!

We believe in harnessing this age group’s need for complexity by giving them quests that will require nothing short of hard work in order to fully master earning their badges.

Core work

We’ll continue using proven homeschool curriculum along with an online curriculum that can help if learners get stuck.

Core work via our gamification & badge process should be done in 2 - 2.5 hours each morning.

Afternoon Projects (Quests)

The afternoons will be for quest work, outdoor life lessons, or apprenticeships so their brains get the attention they need to still stay focused on their Hero’s Journey!

Rite of Passage

Once we see they’re maturing and getting ready for the high school level workshop, they’ll embark on a seven step rite of passage and will be welcomed into young adulthood.

This rite of passage will be customized based on each family and child. The school is here to be the support through it and for celebrating our newest young adults!

Adventure Workshop Sample Daily Schedule

This schedule is flexible in our learning design. Time blocks can be moved around based on the workshop’s needs. Within each work block, learners choose from a broad range of learning options based on their personal goals, interests, and other commitments. Most of the time, we will break tasks down into 25 minute pomodoro technique blocks so tweens and teens have plenty of brain breaks and chances to move their bodies!

“The objects of this primary education . . . would be . . . to form the statesmen, legislators and judges, on whom public prosperity and individual happiness are so much to depend.”
