The Wonder Workshop

For 5-8 year olds.

Our wonder workshop is focused on retaining your child’s curiosity while demonstrating the foundation for how to ‘get along with others’.

Learning via stories & play

We’ll be using proven homeschool curriculum made for children to learn by playing, doing, and storytelling via a gamification method. They will be done with their core work in two hours or less every morning!

Afternoon projects (Quests)

The afternoons will be for quest work or expanded learning in a story based method with lots of brain breaks/play! Our goal is for your kiddos to LOVE learning and coming to school!

Kindergarten

We believe that children in the 5-6 year old range are still too young to attend school full time.

So, kindergarten is only considered a morning program at our school.

The Kinder Daily Schedule:

  • Play at drop off

  • Socratic Circle

  • Math using manipulatives (this is very similar to the Montessori style)

  • More play

  • High school aged teens will spend 15 - 20 minutes with your child helping him or her learn to read using phonics

  • More play

  • Story time

  • Clean up

  • Play until pick up. Pick up is between 11:45am and noon.

Hero’s Journey

We’ll introduce your children to their hero’s journey, our badge system that encourages mastery of subjects, and how working together with clear language is important.

Wonder Workshop Sample Daily Schedule

8:30am: Drop off & play time

9am: Socratic Circle

9:15am: Core work

11:45am: Lunch & free time

1pm: Socratic Circle and begin Quest work

3pm: Clean up workshop

3:15pm: Closing group

This schedule is flexible in our learning design. Time blocks can be moved around based on the workshop’s needs. Within each work block, learners choose from a broad range of learning options based on their personal goals, interests, and other commitments. Most of the time, we will break tasks down into 25 minute pomodoro technique blocks so children have plenty of brain breaks and chances to move their bodies indoors and outdoors!
